St. Alexander Catholic School Art

Art is incorporated into the education of all kindergarten through eighth grade students.  An age appropriate curriculum allows for immersion in the creation, understanding, and appreciation of art.  Students learn the elements of art including color, form, shape, texture, and space.

Mrs. Karen Scoles
"I feel passionate about teaching students art and the way we view the world aesthetically, historically, critically, and productively.  Mostly, however, I want to instill a love of learning.  Not just for learning art, but learning in all areas.  We are forever students -- continually learning and putting into action all we have learned.  I believe that in teaching one can provide structure, a safe learning environment, and in art, a place where you can use your imagination and creativity jointly with the art concepts and skills introduced."

Mrs. Scoles graduated from Northern Illinois Univeristy with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education.  She taught at Oswego Community District 308 and Addison Trail High School before joining the St. Alexander School faculty.  Mrs. Scoles is an alumni of St. Alexander School.
